Privacy Policy
This page is a template prepared for review by an Australian legal adviser before the site goes live. It describes the intended process.
This policy explains what information Garage Door Repair Gold Coast collects when you make a garage door enquiry, why it is collected, who it may be shared with, and how to opt out or ask about it.
1. Who this policy covers
Garage Door Repair Gold Coast operates this website and takes garage door repair enquiries for the Gold Coast, Queensland. It is an enquiry and referral service, not a repair business. The legal operating entity, its registered details and the nominated privacy contact are pending verification and will be published here before the site goes live.
Garage Door Repair Gold Coast takes the enquiry and may pass it to a suitable independent local provider. That provider is responsible for its own quote, credentials, licensing, work, warranties and service delivery. We cannot promise that a provider will accept every enquiry.
2. What is collected
When you call, or reply to a service SMS, the following may be recorded:
- your name;
- the phone number you called from, or a callback number you give;
- your suburb or postcode;
- the service or symptom you are enquiring about;
- a concise description of the job, including the door type where known;
- the property or site type where relevant, such as house, townhouse, unit or strata;
- urgency or preferred timeframe;
- access constraints, such as driveway slope, parking or gated entry;
- visible damage or safety flags you describe;
- the opener brand or model, if you can read it safely;
- whether photographs are available if a provider asks for them;
- a preferred contact time;
- a record that the referral disclosure was given.
Only information relevant to assessing and referring a garage door enquiry is collected. Sensitive information as defined under the Australian Privacy Principles is not sought, and should not be provided.
3. Phone calls and the automated assistant
If a call to Garage Door Repair Gold Coast is not answered, an automated assistant may send a service-related SMS to continue the enquiry you started. It identifies itself, asks only about the garage-door job, and stops immediately if you reply STOP. It is a follow-up to your call, not a marketing subscription.
The assistant asks one question at a time and stops once enough information exists for a provider to assess the enquiry. It does not diagnose faults, quote prices, promise attendance times or make claims about any provider's licensing or insurance.
Opting out: reply STOP to any message. Messaging in that conversation stops immediately, other than where a reply is required to action your request or by law.
Call recording: call recording is not currently enabled. If it is enabled in future, notice will be given in accordance with the applicable recording and monitoring laws before any recording takes place, and this policy will be updated.
4. Why the information is collected
- to understand the enquiry and respond to it;
- to work out whether the enquiry falls within the services and areas covered;
- to prepare a concise summary for a suitable independent local provider;
- to identify safety issues that should be flagged to you or to a provider;
- to keep a record of the disclosure given about referral;
- to meet any applicable legal or record-keeping obligation.
5. Who your information is shared with
The primary disclosure is to an independent local service provider who may be able to help with your enquiry. What is shared is limited to what that provider needs in order to contact you and assess the job: your name, a callback number, the suburb, the service requested, the job description, urgency, access constraints and any safety flags.
Information may also be handled by service suppliers used to operate the enquiry process, such as a telephony provider, an SMS provider and a customer-record system. Those suppliers are pending confirmation and will be identified here, including whether any of them process data outside Australia, before the site goes live.
Your information is not sold, and it is not shared for unrelated marketing. A provider who receives an enquiry is expected to use it only to contact you about that job.
6. Website analytics and call tracking
This website currently sets no analytics cookies and loads no third-party tracking scripts. Call links carry non-identifying attributes recording which part of a page a call came from — for example a hero or footer placement — so the site's usefulness can be assessed. Those attributes contain no personal information.
If analytics or call tracking is introduced later, this policy will be updated first, and any consent requirements applicable at that time will be met.
7. How long information is kept
Enquiry records are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above and for any applicable legal or record-keeping requirement, then deleted or de-identified. The specific retention schedule is pending confirmation and will be published here before the site goes live.
8. Security
Reasonable steps are taken to protect enquiry information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, including access limited to those who need it and secure transmission where information is sent to a provider. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
9. Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You may ask what information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Requests can be made by phone using the number on the Contact page, or by post to the business address once it is published. Identity will be confirmed before a request is actioned, and a response will be given within a reasonable period.
10. Complaints
If you believe your privacy has been mishandled, raise it directly first so it can be investigated. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Its guidance on the Australian Privacy Principles is published at oaic.gov.au.
11. Children
This service is directed at property owners, occupiers and managers. It is not directed at children, and information is not knowingly collected from them.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated when the operating model, suppliers or obligations change. The review date below indicates when it was last considered.
13. Regulatory references
This template has been drafted with reference to:
- Australian Privacy Principles guidelines — Office of the Australian Information Commissioner
- Avoid sending spam — Australian Communications and Media Authority
- Consent expectations for businesses using direct marketing — Australian Communications and Media Authority
Whether and how the Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles apply to this operating entity is a matter for legal advice, and that advice is pending. A service-related response to a missed call is treated separately from later direct marketing, which would require its own consent and unsubscribe handling.
